Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Best For Content Creators

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Creative professionals, get ready to feel all warm and fuzzy: Acer has created a laptop just for you. And when I say that, I’m not over – Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel doesn’t Only build with fast components for very large editing. Capturing 4K photos and videos takes less time and more than just a display that promises wide and accurate colours. my review unit costing $ 4,000 for an eight-core Intel Core i7-10875H CPU, 32GB of RAM, 2TB of storage across two 1TB solid-state drives in RAID 0, Pantone certified 4K  IPS display and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 2080 Super Max-Q.

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Design

Where to start? After reviewing almost 100 laptops of Digital Trends, I don’t remember updating one with so many design elements to talk about. we have compared ConceptD 7 Ezel with more complexity.

Let’s start with the form factor. We use the word “2-in-1” to describe 360-degree flexors like HP Specter x360 13, and that would be a small thing Such laptops don’t just change from clamshells to tablets; they have two other options – the tent and the media – in between. If we were completely accurate, we would call them 4-in-1s.

In this sense, ConceptD 7 Ezel is a 6-in-1, with six different modes There is a standard clamshell mode, a float mode that allows the display to be placed closer or farther away from the user, a standing mode that allows easy writing and drawing at a comfortable angle, mode allowing interactive sharing, media viewing mode or converting and displaying other content, and a pad mode that works as a tablet (very large).

Without tablet mode, all of these are fun and easy to use the device on. This is especially true for artists who always dream of holding a pen in their hands and working directly on the screen. The

ConceptD7Ezel has 6 different modes that can be collected with a hinge combination.

These modes are enabled by the hinge. Place it in the centre of the display and rotate it along the lid to extend it to half the back of the display. It takes some getting used to opening the display. You need to grab it down. Otherwise, the display may rotate inconveniently. Everything works well to keep the panel exactly where you want it. Overall, it’s great engineering to create modes that truly serve a variety of creative and collaborative needs. The

chassis is made of magnesium-aluminium alloy and is united. Color — white. But it’s not just painted. Rather, Acer developed a ceramic coating via micro-arc oxidation (MAO) process, “creating a carbide crystalline ceramic structure with a unique tactile sensation. According to the reviewer’s guide,” feel. “. But it’s not just about how it looks. Ceramic coatings also promise resistance to corrosion and oxidation. very low design; one would say it’s an old form of working over the form. It’s not an attractive laptop in any way – call it “utilitarian” instead. to call it elegant, however, as this is one big laptop. The bezels are small on the side of the display but large at the top and have a large chin at the bottom. bezels. As such, the ConceptD 7 Ezel is larger in width and depth than a laptop like the Dell XPS 15 (though perhaps not as much as you might guess), which should come as no surprise. The Acer is also very thick, at 0.89 inches at its thinnest point and 1.13 inches at its thickest point. Prepare for the XPS 15’s 0.71 inches.

Finally, the ConceptD 7 Ezel weighs 5.6 lbs compared to the Dell at 4.5 lbs. This machine is not going to throw in your backpack and carry it occasionally to the local coffee shop – instead, it’s one that you move from workplace to workplace and keep a little. The extra heft is unavoidable with this type of design. When you buy it, you compromise on the hinge exchange by a unique form – so it is best to plan not to use it only as a clamshell laptop. On the left side, you’ll find a USB-A 3.1 port, two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3, and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the right side, you’ll find a gigabit Ethernet port, an HDMI 2.0 port with HDCP support, and a DisplayPort 1.4 connection. Finally, the full SD card reader is in the front row. Wireless connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Performance

Acer has sent us a top-end version of the ConceptD 7 Ezel (not just Pro models with Xeon CPUs and Quadro GPUs, but also available from reseller channels). It is equipped with an 8-core Core i7-10875H CPU and GeForce GTX. 2080 Super Max-Q GPU. As you can imagine, it’s very fast. Looking at the

Geekbench5, Concept 7 Ezel scored 1,301 in the single-core test and 7,949 in the multi-core test. This was almost the same as Dell XPS. Slightly beats the 17 and the XPS 15, which uses the same CPU. This makes ConceptD 7 Ezel the top CPU in this class.

Next, let’s consider a handbrake test that converts 420MB video to H.265. ConceptD 7 Ezel finished the test in less than two minutes, slightly losing to the XPS 17 in 5 seconds and defeating the XPS 15 in 8 seconds. This is a CPU-intensive test, so it’s not surprising that these laptops ended very close. together.

In Cinebench 20, the story was a little different. The ConceptD 7 Ezel scored 463 in the single-core test and 3,845 in the multi-core test, which is the third-fastest score we’ve seen in a laptop. Only the Dell beat the G5 SE with AMD Ryzen 7 4800H and the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 with Core i9-10980HK – and by no means.

I then ran our test that best mimics real-world conditions, by using Premiere Pro to give two-minute 4K video. The concept 7 Ezel finished the project in two minutes and 57 seconds, the fastest we’ve seen. The XPS 17 finished in three minutes and 38 seconds, and the XPS 15 finished in four minutes and 50 seconds. Later, the Super Max-Q GTX 2080 makes all the difference in demanding tasks using the GPU. At least with this configuration, the ConceptD 7 Ezel is one of the creative workstations the quicker you’ll find it’s not really a workstation.

The chassis makes it get very, very warm. In fact, it gets really hot at times. Next, you need to talk about thermal design. Components of this kind require adequate cooling if performance is good, especially if the laptop does not melt in the process. Acer has built a custom engineering solution to Two fourth-generation AeroBlade 3D fans (the fan edges are serrated to maximize airflow) and three heat pipes.

Of course, the ConceptD 7 Ezel‘s unique design is said to support this performance with better cooling. Slightly to allow for better airflow. The idea is that the ConceptD 7 Ezel doesn’t sound too loud when running at full speed. The Acer boasts 40 decibels. Even if you work hard, the laptop never makes a loud noise. As suggested by Acer, I use it in the library, but I’m not ashamed to use it in a typical office space.

But the chassis gets very warm. In fact, it gets completely hot from time to time. Above the key boa 125 degrees, Fahrenheit or higher 140 degrees Fahrenheit from the bottom of the chassis under the display. The heat at the top does not interfere with comfortable use — the keyboard and deck remain cool enough — but if you’re pushing the CPU and GPU, you don’t want to put this laptop on your lap. Acer has succeeded in making it relatively quiet. But it seems to come at the expense of generating serious heat.

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Gaming performance

I will talk about the play because, of course, the ConceptD 7 Ezel is well equipped to run today’s much-needed topics in high resolution and click-through details. I don’t think, however, that most people will buy this laptop by playing it up in their minds – especially because the screen refresh rate is locked at 60Hz.

If you are making a game, you will be very happy. MSI GS66 Stealth at 7,493. uses Nvidia’s Studio drivers intended for creative applications rather than Game Ready drivers delivered on multiple laptops, so it aims to be more stable in creative applications than the pure playback speed.

Next, in real voice games, ConceptD 7 Ezel gets 60 frames per second (fps) -1080p with higher graphics in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, compared to Asus at 55 fps (independent per second) and MSI at 56 fps. In 4K, ConceptD 7 Ezel has only 29 fps compared to Civilization VI, ConceptD 7 Ezel has hit 133 fps in 1080p with Ultra graphics and 73 fps in 4K. Finally, at Fortnite, ConceptD 7 Ezel ran 119 fps at 1080p and Epic graphics and 45 fps in 4K, compared to Asus at 91 fps at 1080p (we didn’t run the game at 4K on that machine).

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Display

Apart from performance, creative professionals do not matter much more than demonstrating quality. They need wide colour gamuts and great accuracy, to match the usual high brightness and contrast that is important to all laptop users. The ConceptD 7 Ezel 4K 15-inch display. Ie has an IPS panel with an anti-glare texture that promises 100% obeRGB coverage and Pantone authentication. So how did he back my colourimeter?

The first unit he sent me had very poor factory calibration, and the results were not pretty. However another unit sent me straight away, and the results were much better. The ConceptD 7 Ezel display is not the best we have seen on laptops aimed at creative professionals, but it is a close-up.

The colour gamut is only the narrowest bit compared to the XPS 15 and scored 100% of AdobeRGB and sRGB comparison.By, the ConceptD 7 Ezel managed 95% of AdobeRGB and 99% of sRGB. Again, these are not the best scores we have seen, but they are well within a reasonable range for a creative laptop. Colour accuracy was very good at 0.87, compared to the XPS 15 at 0.65 – nothing below 1.0 can do that. seen by the human eye and considered outstanding.

Accuracy was good at 356 nits, above our 300-nit threshold, and benefited from the anti-glare panel, while contrast was lost ‘ Our preferred 1000: 1 ratio was 960: 1.Again, the XPS 15 was better at 442 nits and 1480: 1 contrast. Gamma was generally perfect at 2.

Qualitatively, the display was a delight throughout my experience. The pictures looked natural and there was a video on the spot – I had no complaints. The ConceptD 7 Ezel display is good enough that it doesn’t detract from the rest of the experience, even if I wish the colour gamut was a bit wider.

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Keyboard and touchpad

ConceptD 7 Ezel‘s keyboard is a fairly standard island keyboard with well-spaced keys, a bit small, the mechanism is almost sharp enough, just a little loose will reduce the accuracy a bit. Overall, I love typing on this keyboard, it doesn’t match Apple’s Magic Keyboard, nor HP’s Specter version, but it’s better than most. The colours make things more difficult to read. some padding to make the buttons comfortable and quiet, but I wish it were bigger.

The display is touch-activated, of course, and very accurate. Wacom EMR pen with 4,096 s pressure sensitivity. The matte glass display is designed to make writing sound more natural, and the EMR pen does not require working power.

I would say it’s a great solution – I’m sure artists will love its performance – but it’s very limited. I wish to use the booth to ensure that the pen is not lost, but Acer should have found a way to make a complete version. I’m not an artist, so I can’t prove whether the size is dangerous, but I suspect it could be others.

Finally, Windows 10 Hello support comes with a fingerprint reader built into the power button on the left side of the laptop. and accurately and will not quarrel lightly.

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Battery life

Don’t expect great battery life from this beast, do you? Are not? That’s good because you won’t get it. And that is even though the 84-watt battery is hidden inside.

At the same time, I ‘Please note that this is not the worst battery life in our database, as it is definitely better than most of the gaming laptops, and it’s almost in line with the other creator-oriented laptops we’ve tested. requires a Basemark web benchmark test and that’s not too bad. The Dell XPS 15 lasted just 11 minutes on this test and the XPS 17 lasted less than 11 minutes.

This means that in practice, you can expect around three hours Don’t use up the ConceptD 7 Ezel if you’re doing demanding jobs, and that’s probably enough for a short stint at a coffee shop. However, the electric brick is quite large so carrying it around will not be pleasant.

In terms of productivity, our best test is the web browsing one that iterates over a series of relatively busy websites. So it is unlikely that you will work all day even if you only use Office and browse the web. In our video test shot through a 1080p trailer, the ConceptD 7 Ezel lasted just over 10 hours. a bad point for a machine like this and that promises hours of Netflix.

Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel: Our take

The ConceptD 7 Ezel is a class in itself. There is no other consumer laptop designed and built specifically for one kind of user-the creative professional. Even professional workstations built for these users aren’t custom-built for creators. The design of the. ConceptD 7 Ezel serves an obvious purpose, and Acer deserves a reputation for doing so right.

In general, these particular machines tend to compromise in other areas. But other than size, you can forgive. Flexible and powerful. The ConceptD 7 Ezel does not require meaningful compromises. Yes, it’s expensive in the review configuration, but you can also spend $2,500 on a version that includes a Core i7-10750H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and more. Excellent 4K display and GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. It’s in the same regular price range like the Dell XPS 15, XPS 17, and MacBook Pro 16, and no one doesn’t work that well for the creators.

Amazing cutting edge artist’s laptop
Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2020

Really love this slick artist’s laptop. The Wacom pen is small, which I was a bit nervous about, but it’s very comfortable to use and sensitive. Such a game-changer to have a responsive touch screen that I can easily zoom in and out and rotate with my free hand while I draw with my right. The adjustable angled screen is going to change the market for drawing laptops. I just can’t imagine using a laptop without this feature now. The chassis is a bit heavy, but it’s of quality material, and the sunset glow in the keyboard is really unique and pretty. The screen is Pantone certified, which is a relief after having used a laptop with colors that just didn’t translate well among other devices. Plenty of memory to run my favorite games, and they look awesome! I also really appreciated the fact that Acer packaged this laptop without any plastic! Ingenious cardboard packaging design that actually felt even more high end. Obviously, I recommend this laptop to anyone who does digital art.

The tilt screen is awesome
Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020

Easy to use out of the box. Easy to transport. Hardware seems really durable. Love the white colour and backlit keys. The tilt screen is awesome! It would be great if it had a secondary interior screen so that when you’re using it in presenter mode (i.e., when the screen is flipped completely outward) the presenter could still see what’s being displayed. Wish it came with more software (Adobe, Microsoft). Shipping was very fast!

Beautiful laptop
Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2020

I like the speed, feel, and features of this notebook. The screen in beautiful. And the pen works nicely. I like the feel of the keypad and usually I don’t like typing on a laptop keyboard. This feels very comfortable.

Update – I returned the original laptop I received because the Wifi didn’t work. Amazon made it super easy to return by picking it up at my door with a label. I ordered a second and the Wifi works excellently. So I changed my review from two stars to five.

Original post:
But I’m literally 15 feet line of sight from my router and I have one bar on the wifi. Either there is a serious problem with the design, the driver is faulty, or the antenna is disconnected. I just got it today so I can’t take it apart. What a let down. I’m not sure what to do. I did try the latest driver on Intel’s web site but it didn’t help.
I’m returning it today and have ordered a new one. If the wifi on this one works I’ll update the review.

Problems with the AES Pen and Fingerprint Reader
Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2020

Sometimes the pen bugs out after a few seconds of using it, but it should start working again once you put it back in and take it out again.

As for the fingerprint reader, I don’t like it, because it can’t detect my fingerprint as well as my phone, so I would always have to type in my password instead.

Oh, and keep in mind that this laptop uses a strong magnet to keep the screen at its original place, so after pulling the screen out and putting it back again it’ll clip the screen back strongly and it makes me kind of worried.

Great after BIOS update
Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2020

Many people comment on how jittery the AES screen is. When the product first arrived, it was indeed very hard to get a straight line, and pen pressure was a little funky. However, Acer has since released a BIOS update available on their site which significantly improves things. Laptop performance and design was always great, but since the touchscreen update it’s an excellent choice.

Returning Device
Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2020

Final Update:

Another disappointment. I was only getting 2.5 hours of battery per charge, which is a huge shortcoming from the stated 14.5 hours from Acer. I troubleshooted with Acer, but the issue still persisted. I have decided to return the device for good this time. I just didn’t want to have to deal with another replacement and then potentially realizing more and more problems down the line. This had the potential to be an amazing device, but the ball was dropped on this one.

Original:

I was in the middle of setting up this device when I was hit with a blue screen, saying my PC ran into an error and had to restart. I let the device restart, but the same error showed up again and now the device keeps going in this restart cycle. I contacted Acer and they said there might have been an issue with the Windows installation or drivers during manufacture. Not to mention, my device was delayed in shipping and arrived a day later than supposed to. Luckily, Amazon was understanding and processed for a replacement device quickly, along with UPS to come and pick up the defected item. I hope my replacement device will fair better, so I can update this review.
