Dell Alienware M15 R3: Best Gaming Laptop in 2022

Dell Alienware M15 R3 is a solid gaming laptop for self-introduction or reintroduction of what Dell-owned companies can do lately. It significantly improves the design of the original M15, released a few years ago, and wipes out some.

Don’t get me wrong. This is a gaming laptop covered with backlit keys, a honeycomb-shaped air intake, and a strip of LEDs around it. Lear Fan Outtakes Essentially a slimmer version of the giant Modular Area-51M, but to attract gamers who want a minimalist look that’s a bit more sophisticated than what Alienware is known to produce. Is built on.

For high-end specs such as this and support 300Hz refresh rate displays, Dell shows that more gamers are taking advantage of what their laptops demand.

Well, a kind of options. For example, the RAM on this laptop (similar to previous laptops) is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded in the future when it starts to get stuck. Also, Alienware’s 32GB limit when buying a machine is too low.

Not to mention the demanding games that will appear shortly by 2020 standards. Razer’s Blade 15 and MSI GS66 Stealth are both affordable devices that allow you to easily add RAM and storage after purchase – and are smaller than the M15 R3.

Battery life is also seriously lacking. It’s unwise if you expect magic in this department with gaming laptops, especially one with a 300Hz refresh rate display. 6 cell 86Wh battery boosts in about an hour.

The aforementioned GS66 Stealth that I reviewed has a 99Wh battery and despite being a thinner laptop with a 300Hz refresh rate display and some faster specs, it somehow survives.

About five hours before needing The R3’s non-demanding configurations could do better (increasing the display’s refresh rate to 60Hz has doubled battery life to two hours, but that’s also nothing is excellent), but obviously, this laptop is generally not suitable for use on the go.

These specs offer smooth gaming performance consistent with settings. set max For games like Death Stranding, Control and new releases like Mortal Shell, to give a few examples. It’s also fast enough to combine multiple Chrome usage, with several other apps open simultaneously.

Even apps like Adobe Premiere Pro get the most out of your CPU and GPU shouldn’t be a tough contender for the R3. In our export test, this machine output a 5 minute 33 second 4K video in 3 minutes 42 seconds. the speed exceeds the length of the video itself by this large margin.

Gaming performance is also great, and its full-powered RTX 2070 chip seems to make up for the fact that it’s not a newer RTX 20-series Super Max-Q chip. However, if you decide to enhance all ray tracing features in the games that support it, it’s not surprising that this particular M15 R3 configuration starts to show some signs of weakness. – DLSS support is disabled.

You can take advantage of this laptop’s eGPU support if you have an Nvidia RTX 3080 (along with Alienware’s $ 229 Graphics Amplifier required to connect it). Profits are happening according to this roadmap and it may not perform much better than the laptop’s integrated GPU.

The screen on the R3 is great. running at up to 300 fps (though a lot of horsepower in this machine, few actually hit such a high). Even during the craziest actions in the game, images remained sharp with minimal teardown, bright at 300 nits, and colors accurate with 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut.

Ultimately, I want to credit Alienware for its keyboard. Not only is the feel comfortable to type, but the keys are also spaced out in a way that I personally make little mistakes when typing. That’s not something I can often trust with a gaming laptop.

On the other hand, the touchpad is too small, nothing good (it supports the Windows Precision set of gestures), but it’s a pity that the Alienware doesn’t come with a wider touchpad, like on the MSI GS66 Stealth. All laptops have their share of perks and trade-offs, but the M15 R3 is hard to ignore.

You may love or hate the design, or most of the ports are located on the back of the laptop. There’s no denying that for the $ 2,136 for which this configuration comes at a price, you can get a better, thinner laptop with comparable specs.

last longer when it comes to battery life. If you’re just spending a little more than this Alienware configuration, then there’s a GS66 Stealth configuration that includes an eight-core Intel Core i7-10875H processor, an RTX graphics chip 2070 Super Max-Q, with 32 GB RAM for about $ 2,350, although default storage capacity is less at 512GB.

However, if you already have the money to acquire Alienware, I think those extra changes are worth the extra cost if you want to prove your future with as much laptop investment as possible. And why not?

Dell Alienware M15 R3 All Overall, the Dell Alienware M15 R3 does not suffer from many fatal errors. its next iteration will go further in those departments, it will be a real member.
