macbook pro vs macbook air difference

Difference between MacBook Pro and Air 2022

The MacBook Pro is considerably more expensive. You can get a three-year Applecare warranty on both laptops, but there are some important differences to consider if you’re thinking about purchasing one through Apple’s online store.

If you want to protect your desktop computer from theft or damage, So, here’s everything you need to know about these two laptops and which one is best for you.

One of the reasons why selecting between these two laptops is so difficult is because they appear similar at first glance. They are comparable in size and, if set up in the same way, are even within a similar price range, making it perplexing.

The first thing to understand is that they’re identical, which I’ll get out of the way right now.

Quality

Starting with the build quality, both of these laptops are well-built. They’re built using that aluminum unibody design. You won’t notice any difference in terms of build quality between these two models.

Keyboards (Difference between MacBook Pro and Air)

The MacBook Pro 13-inch also has a trackpad and keyboard that are comparable to the previous models. The keyboard on this machine is the Magikal keyboard that was initially included with the MacBook Air.

However, it’s now available for purchase for use with the 13-inch MacBook Pro. It’s an excellent upgrade over the old butterfly design.

The keyboards on these laptops are great for typing. There is one distinction between the two keyboards. The MacBook Pro has a touch bar, while the MacBook Air has a regular row of function keys.

This isn’t a significant difference. I like the traditional arrangement of function keys because they’re more reliable and you always know where they are.

And in real-world use, I find that the difficult part isn’t overly helpful.

I don’t consider it a major expenditure. It’s more of a choice kind of feature to me. The touch bar has a cool factor that I recognize some individuals will enjoy. Which allows you to utilize it for shortcuts or controls in certain programs.

But, in my opinion, there isn’t enough there to use daily. They both have the same-size bezels around the 13.3-inch display with the 720p webcam on top.

The touch ID fingerprint reader on the top right of the keyboard layout is another great feature. So there you have it, that’s all there is to know about it.

And as you can see, everything else is identical. The MacBook Air is the more cost-effective option in every case, so if any of those attributes are significant to you, you’re receiving a better deal.

Shape

There are, however, a few minor distinctions that one should be aware of. But they’re somewhat different, so the form of both of these gadgets is slightly distinct. The MacBook Air has a wedge shape, whereas the MacBook Pro is simply a flat design.

I like the MacBook Pro’s flat style. It gives it the illusion of being thinner than it is.

However, the MacBook Air is a little lighter than the previous MacBook Pro models, so if mobility is crucial to you, it may be worth considering.

You know it’s wise to remember that the MacBook Air is a bit lighter. When you put it into your luggage. The MacBook Air does, however, include a gold finish.

I’m a fan of this choice, which works well for the MacBook Air. I wish they’d incorporated it with pro 2. But there’s one more thing that’s comparable.

Port Selection

But there is a minor difference in the ports. They have only USB CD Thunderbolt 3 ports. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, has just two Thunderbolt 3 ports. Regardless of any configuration you choose, no matter how much money you spend, the MacBook Pro comes with two distinct options.

The $1299 version comprises just two, which are comparable to the MacBook Air.

However, if you spend $99 more and get the 17-inch Pro, you’ll receive four thunderbolts via ports two on each side. So if you know you’ll need additional ports for any future accessories, make sure to select the 17-inch Pro with 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports instead of the 14-inch model.

Speakers

Even the speakers, which appear to be identical, are slightly different from one another. The MacBook Air’s speakers are a bit better than those in the MacBook Pro. There is somewhat more bass and volume, making it seem as if the audio profile was fuller-bodied than on the MacBook Air.

Then there’s the most subtle difference between these two laptops: when you look at the features or sip their laptops side by side, that’s when you notice it (the display).

Display

Both use Retina displays. These are both excellent displays, according to Apple’s definition, which stands for 2560 by 1600 pixels.

However, the MacBook Pro features a more colorful and brighter display than the MacBook Air.

That’s why View 10 is so important. It provides a greater color gamut and true-to-life colors that look more like what humans see in nature. This can be especially beneficial for photographers and video editors who need consistent colors across images or videos of different settings, times of day, or locations.

Who relies on those incredibly precise hues to make this distinction is quite crucial because it starts to show you the various demographics. Because these laptops appear comparable in terms of performance, Apple isn’t making things simple for you when it comes to comparing specs.

The CPU in the 13-inch MacBook Pro is a quad-core Core i5. When you combine them for $12.99, you get a quad-core Core i5 processor.

So, yes, you should expect similar performance in both cases; that isn’t accurate, but the difference is significant.

It’s because the MacBook Air needs only 9 watts of CPU power while the 13-inch MacBook Pro uses a 25-watt CPU that it’s so light and thin.

The difference is truly apparent. And I’m not just talking about when you’re executing a heavy application, like for example, bringing up a zoom meeting, which is a regular occurrence these days.

When you close the lid on your MacBook Air, the fans kick into high gear. And I even had one instance where my laptop just shut off abruptly after a lengthy video conference. That’s not ideal, and you won’t encounter the same performance issues with a 25-watt CPU in the MacBook Pro.

Now I haven’t tried every possible configuration of the MacBook Air, but I don’t think that upping the RAM or processor speed will help.

And, of course, the pro handles a variety of tasks including video editing, photo editing, and music production. This is the most powerful 13-inch laptop I’ve ever tested. It even manages to outperform the new XPS 13, which is also a really strong 13-inch laptop.

So, what you should not do is go into a MacBook Pro thinking that. Because it’s called a “pro,” it’s a professional-grade computer with incredible components that aren’t entirely true. This is more for the hobbyist, freelancer, or aspiring professional creative who wants to create on the side.

Not necessarily sitting down for an all-day run with this 4k video rendering in the premiere. If that’s you, you should upgrade to a 16-inch MacBook Pro from Apple, which was designed for real creative professionals. Who needs such power these days?

Pro vs. Pro

When you go to purchase a 13-inch MacBook Pro, you will notice that there are several alternatives. Apple has divided it into a basic model of $1299 and a superior version with higher specifications for $1799, which are essentially the same except for the processor choices I won’t go into it much since it’s about a different subject.

The $1299 version, on the other hand, has a gen Intel CPU, while the more expensive one comes with 10th gen Intel chips. As a result, it’s difficult to determine which one you should buy and what the performance distinctions are. It’s worth noting because purchasing a MacBook Pro is no easy task.

Battery Life: MacBook Pro vs Air

The last point to consider is the battery life of MacBook Pro vs air. In terms of how long it will last on a single charge, the MacBook Air wins hands down, offering users around 2 hours more battery life or 20% more time than the laptop.

The MacBook Air, on the other hand, lasts considerably longer. This will matter. If you’re someone who uses their laptop all day long and have some ideas about how these two laptops compare and which one is best for you, keep reading.

The MacBook Air comes in a little bit cheaper than the Lenovo Yoga Book, which is an important aspect to me. Because it costs $1,000 or less, this is a really attractive price for something like a student or a professional who doesn’t require lots of heavy applications. And this is where you must be truthful with yourself.

If you’ll be using this laptop for standard Lite computing tasks like online surfing and Netflix and Spotify, then the extra performance it offers isn’t necessary.

In general, I wouldn’t recommend going overboard with the MacBook Air configuration because if you enter the $1299 price range of the MacBook Pro, you’re starting to lose out.

Which Is Right For You?

Finally, there’s the difference between a MacBook Pro and an Air. In terms of value, as much as I don’t like recommending old components in a new laptop, the higher-end $1299 MacBook Pro is the superior option here.

If you require more power and greater performance, then comparing to the current state of affairs, in terms of both performance and display when compared to the MacBook Air today if you are someone who needs more power.

If you want to go with the 13-inch version, it will set you back at about $1799. The price is right for those who can afford it, jumping up to the $1799 MacBook Pro is a smart choice. That’s the one I tested in this article; it performs very well with the 10th generation Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM.
